MOKSE is a purpose-driven organization dedicated to transforming lives through education, empowerment, and entrepreneurship. We work specifically with incarcerated learners and formerly incarcerated individuals, aiming to break down the barriers that hinder their ability to thrive and to dismantle the stigma that too often defines their experiences.
Our vision is a bold yet simple society where all individuals, regardless of their past, have equal opportunities to thrive, learn, and lead. We believe that when people are empowered and equipped with the right tools, they can rise above limitations and become agents of positive change in their communities.
To achieve this, MOKSE offers a range of services designed to educate, advocate, and uplift:
One of our key initiatives is Providing Technical Assistance and consulting services to colleges and Universities.
We partner with institutions that are ready to expand educational access to incarcerated populations. Our consulting services help colleges and universities design and implement prison education programs that include micro-credentials and digital badging—innovative tools that make learning both accessible and transferable.
Another cornerstone of our work is the Stop the Stigma Conference. This annual event brings together college students, educators, community members, and individuals impacted by the justice system to engage in open dialogue. This conference is more than a gathering—it’s a movement to raise awareness about the realities of incarceration, challenge harmful stereotypes, and build a more compassionate and informed society.
Additionally, MOKSE is dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship among individuals who have been formerly incarcerated. We provide mentorship, training, and resources for those who are ready to start their businesses and redefine their futures. We believe that entrepreneurship is not just about economic opportunity; it’s about reclaiming agency and rebuilding lives on one’s terms.
Our work is grounded in the core values of equity, empowerment, dignity, and innovation. These principles guide everything we do, from the partnerships we build to the programs we deliver.
