Your Voice Matters

Businesses in New Hampshire recognize that stability and trust in government are essential for economic growth. Uncertainty and divisive rhetoric can negatively impact the business climate, making it more challenging to attract investment and talent.

Our Values

We are driven by inclusivity, integrity, encouragement, and transformative collaboration.

Our Goal

To give you the innovative tools to create shared value in your communities, among your employees, customers, and suppliers.

What We Can Do
  1. Speak out directly to legislators on key bills moving through the State House
  2. Sign in opposed or in support of bills online to show power in numbers
  3. Catalyze the power of other leaders to take action because stable, strong, and healthy communities produce successful businesses.

Climate and Clean Energy:

  1. Why it Matters: Clean energy solutions are vital for business, the economy and the health of our communities. A diverse energy portfolio protects businesses from volatile fossil fuel prices.
  2. The NHBSR Position: NHBSR supports policies enhancing access to energy efficiency and renewable energy, reducing reliance on imported fuels, lowering energy costs, creating jobs, and making New Hampshire businesses more competitive.

Key Bills:

Support SB 106-FN

Enhance the ability of businesses to cut energy costs by investing in their own self-generation

Oppose HB 372

Hinder the ability of communities to cut their energy bills by entering into energy service contracts.

Oppose HB 224

Empties the state’s renewable energy fund, making it harder for businesses looking to cut their emissions by investing in renewable energy.

Strong Public Education and Early Child Education and Care:

  1. Why it Matters: A well-educated workforce is the foundation of the innovation economy. Access to quality child care is crucial for supporting working families and expanding the workforce.
  2. The NHBSR Position: NHBSR advocates for fair funding of public schools and investments in early childhood education. We need to make sure all students have the opportunity to succeed and that our schools – which are the engine of our economy – have the support they need.

Key Bills:

Oppose HB115 (Universal Vouchers)

Expands the state’s Education Freedom Account program to include the wealthiest Granite Staters before fully funding our neighborhood public schools, a necessity for our businesses to attract young workers.

Oppose HB675 (Statewide Education Spending Cap)

Strips local control by creating a statewide school funding cap. This cap would rob students and their families of the opportunity for a robust education and force schools to cancel sports, arts and more.

Take Action:

Use the NH School Fair Funding Project advocacy tool to let your legislator know that HB 675 strips away local control and harms our public schools.

Oppose HB 517

Would repeal New Hampshire’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Program, taking away what little support working families currently have to care for themselves and their loved ones.

Take Action:

Use the MomsRIsings tool to let your legislator know to oppose HB 517.

Welcoming Workplaces:

  1. Why it Matters: Diverse perspectives and an inclusive environment drive innovation, improve performance, and reduce turnover.
  2. The NHBSR Position: NHBSR champions policies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. When employees feel valued, businesses thrive.

Key Bills:

Oppose HB148, SB38 and SB268

Oppose HB148, SB38 and SB268. All three of these bill are the same and achieve the same goal of legalizing discrimination in the State of New Hampshire. These bills include bathroom bans. We have see the damage these bans have done to other states businesses and economies. New Hampshire businesses will suffer if these laws take effect. Last year Governor Sununu vetoed this bill and we hope Governor Ayotte will do the same.

Housing:

  1. Why it Matters: Expanding housing supply and affordability is critical for New Hampshire’s future. Public polling and the 2024 election cycle underscored housing as a critical issue across the state.
  2. The NHBSR Position: The NH Housing Supply Coalition is working to advance policies that increase housing options through land use reform, permitting reform, and funding support.

Key Bills:

TDB

Examples: Accessory Dwelling Units, Starter Homes Act)

Take Action:

Support the Housing Champions Designation and Grant Program, advocate for zoning reform, contact your local planning board, unify behind the Coalition to call for policymakers to support and enact policies to meaningfully increase housing supply.
