Overview

Garland Mill is an integrated architecture and building firm specializing in the design and construction of high performing buildings. The heart of our business is centered around the design and construction of excellent buildings. The soul of our operation is centered around our people and our place, the North Country, and the historic Garland Mill itself, a water-powered sawmill built in 1856 at the base of Mt. Cabot in Lancaster, New Hampshire.

Our buildings are warm in the winter, cool in the summer, accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities, low maintenance, thoughtfully designed and beautifully crafted. They are all electric and efficient enough to run entirely on renewable energy. They are resilient enough to be comfortable during power outages and natural disasters. We use local materials, purchased from local companies. Indoor air quality is high in our buildings because we pay particular attention to toxicity in the components we choose, and we always provide continuous ventilation. We strive to reduce the carbon intensity of the building process even as we look to store carbon in our buildings. Our buildings create a sense of peace and delight. We do this work by integrating superior design with excellent craft and careful construction management.
